Spotlighting Remarkable Women and Girls

Give to Gain

By The Lulu

So amazing how this world was made

I wonder if God is a woman

because who else could hold so much

and still create?

I think about the beginning of time

how history writes in ink

but women have always written in blood, in milk, in memory.

We gave our bodies to build generations.

We gave our names away in marriage.

We gave our dreams away

so someone else could rise.

And the world called it love.

We gave in kitchens that never made headlines.

Gave in boardrooms where our ideas wore other people’s faces.

Gave in movements where we marched,

but someone else held the microphone.

We gave sons to wars.

Gave daughters courage.

Gave communities stability.

Gave nations labour.

We gave and gave and gave

and the economy grew.

The families grew.

The cities grew.

But did we?

It’s funny how investment in women is still debated

as if we are charity cases

and not catalysts.

As if empowering a woman is a favour

and not a strategy.

Look at the numbers history refuses to count:

the unpaid hours,

the emotional architecture,

the invisible management of everything.

We have been, the infrastructure.

They say “Give to Gain.”

But haven’t we been giving for centuries?

If giving is a seed,

why are so many women still harvesting survival

instead of abundance?

Why is sacrifice romanticized

but sustainability questioned?

if the world truly understood

what women give,

Would investing in us still sound radical?

Or would it finally sound like common sense?

Raising Women Magazine Issue 048 – July 2026

There is a quiet shift taking place in the stories women are telling.

For years, success was measured by titles, milestones, and visibility. Today, we are asking deeper questions. What does influence look like? Who is changing the world? Which friendships shape the women we become? And how do we carry our heritage into a future we are helping to build?

This edition celebrates women and girls of African descent whose ideas, courage, creativity, and leadership are reshaping global conversations. Our cover feature is a reminder that Africa is not waiting to be discovered. It is already influencing the future through remarkable women whose work is changing industries, communities, and generations.

Alongside these inspiring stories, we explore the quiet power of friendship, the economics of modern womanhood, fashion’s changing priorities, and the cultural moments defining our time.

At Raising Women Magazine, we remain committed to one belief: when women rise with purpose, they do not simply change their own stories. They expand what the world believes is possible.
