Autumn Durald Arkapaw and the Oscar That Defied a Century By Francisca Sinjae On Hollywood’s biggest night, when the world’s most recognisable golden statue changes hands once again, the applause usually follows a familiar rhythm. The Epstein Files: Power, Silence, and the World Watching

By Antoine Pepper There is a particular kind of silence that does not come from ignorance. It is calculated, institutional, and maintained by people who have too much to lose. The Jeffrey Epstein case has, across more than two decades, been the most visible demonstration of that silence in modern American history. And now, with […]

Did You Know? Your Food’s Expiry Date Might Not Mean What You Think

By Daniel Agusi Picture this. You open your fridge, reach for a tub of yoghurt, glance at the label and freeze. The date printed on the lid says yesterday. A small moment of panic follows. You sniff it suspiciously, poke it with a spoon, and then, with a dramatic sigh, toss it into the bin. […]

Raising Women Magazine Issue 40 – April 2026 –

As we approach International Women’s Day, we lean into this year’s agenda: Give to Gain. It is a simple phrase, yet profoundly strategic. Progress for women has never been sustained by visibility alone. It has been built through investment, mentorship, solidarity, and the deliberate transfer of opportunity.

On our cover, Ambassador Keisha McGuire represents this principle in motion. Her leadership in global diplomacy reminds us that when women give knowledge, courage, and access, they do not diminish their power. They multiply it.

This edition examines what it truly means to give: time, resources, platforms, protection, policy influence. And what we gain in return: stronger institutions, fairer systems, and a generation of women who enter rooms already prepared.

International Women’s Day is not a performance. It is a responsibility.

When women give intentionally, we all gain collectively.

The question is not whether we will celebrate. The question is how we will contribute.

Give to Gain

The Things I Thought Marriage Would Heal

by Anonymous Before I got married, I was quietly convinced that love would heal me. It was not a belief I ever announced publicly, and it was certainly not something I would have admitted if someone had asked me directly. Yet somewhere beneath the surface of my thoughts, I carried the assumption that marriage would […]

PANDA FEST AND THE NEW GEOGRAPHY OF ASIAN CULTURE IN AMERICA

By Francisca Sinjae In recent years, American cities have witnessed a quiet but powerful cultural shift. Heritage is no longer confined to neighbourhood enclaves, small community centres or annual parades tucked into specific districts. Instead, culture is stepping boldly into central parks, civic squares and mainstream programming. When Panda Fest announced its 2026 debut at […]
