CANNES FILM FESTIVAL 2026

Dates: May 12 – 23, 2026

For twelve sun-drenched days on the French Riviera, the 79th Festival de Cannes made a confident return to its art-house roots. Under the presidency of South Korean director Park Chan-wook, the Palais des Festivals welcomed a bold slate of auteur-driven films and world premieres that kept critics and cinephiles captivated from opening night to the final curtain.

Off screen, the Croisette was equally electric. The red carpet, a global stage in its own right – drew a constellation of stars and cultural figures, each arriving with intention. Traditional dress met high couture, vintage elegance met contemporary drama, and the result was a parade of fashion moments as talked-about as the films themselves.

From the race for the Palme d’Or to the buzz of the Marché du Film, Cannes 2026 delivered on every promise.

A memorable edition that celebrated global cinema and creative fashion.

We spotlighted some of the women whose breathtaking looks defined the event. These women embodied confidence, elegance, and individuality on one of the world’s most iconic red carpets. Below are some of the standout looks we loved from Cannes 2026.

Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA) – 12th Edition

The 12th edition of the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards closed its curtains in breathtaking fashion, delivering a night that celebrated the very best of African storytelling, talent, and culture. Held at the iconic Eko Hotels and Suites in Lagos, the evening was as much a cultural moment as it was an awards ceremony – a reminder of just how far African cinema and television have come.

But it was the red carpet that truly stole the conversation. Long regarded as Nigeria’s answer to the Met Gala, the AMVCA carpet has grown into something far beyond fashion. It is now a full-scale creative statement and a powerful commercial platform for Africa’s women in entertainment. This year’s arrivals leaned into bold, unapologetic artistry: sculptural silhouettes with corseted bodices and sharp architectural peaks commanded attention, while liquid metallics in gold, silver, and diamond-reflective fabrics turned every camera flash into a moment of pure theatre. Most striking of all was the shift toward themed storytelling – guests arrived not merely dressed, but narrating, using fashion as a medium to express identity, heritage, and vision. Here, we celebrate some of the women whose stunning looks lit up the AMVCA red carpet. Somewhere between the notifications, deadlines, responsibilities, ambitions, and endless demands of modern life, many of us have become exceptionally good at keeping going. We show up. We deliver. We carry. We cope. Yet beneath the appearance of productivity, an important question remains: are we truly well?
In this issue of Raising Women Magazine, we explore wellness not as a trend, but as a deeper conversation about humanity, health, purpose, and presence.
Our cover feature introduces Dr. Heidi Beilis, a pioneering physician helping to shape the future of healthcare through artificial intelligence.
