In a world where fashion trends flicker and fade, Alex Asogwa’s Lerksea stands out as a quiet but powerful statement. Lerksea isn’t just about clothes. It’s about embracing your true self and wearing every mood and emotion with pride. Inspired by the ocean’s quiet strength and depth, Alex has created a brand that invites women to be authentic and unapologetic.
Through Lerksea, she’s turning fashion into a movement where every stitch speaks of freedom, individuality, and the courage to be seen. Here’s how Lerksea was born, and why it’s more than just a brand. It’s a space for women to connect with themselves and each other in a way that’s real and endlessly inspiring.
1. What does the name “Lerksea” mean to you, and how did this brand come to life?
Lerksea is more than a name, it’s a feeling, a force. It represents the silent power beneath the surface, like the ocean that dares to be deep, mysterious, and unstoppable.
The brand was born from my desire to create clothing for individuals that express their truth unapologetically. Those like me that wear their mood/emotions on our sleeves but don’t let it stop us from moving forward.
It came to life during a personal season of growth, where I realized that fashion could be a language for freedom, multidimension, different moods and representation.
2. You’ve always stood out for doing things your own way. How does that reflect in the Lerksea aesthetic?
Lerksea isn’t afraid to color outside the lines and neither am I. Lerksea is a brand that’s focused on people dressing how they feel and how they want to dress, not how society feels they should dress. That rebellious grace you see in Lerksea is very much a reflection of my personal journey choosing self, individuality, authenticity and courage over convention every single time.
3. What role does vulnerability play in your creativity, especially when designing for women?
Lerksea is a brand that speaks women that dare to be vulnerable and aware enough to understand that their choice of outfit for the day plays a part in their overall mood. Designing from a place of vulnerability means I’m constantly asking: What does she need to feel good, whole and comfortable today? It’s less about clothes and more about connection.
4. How do you hope women feel when they wear Lerksea?
I want them to feel unapologetic about not locking themselves up in one style. I want them to feel free yet stylish. I want them to know how to make any mood fashionable. Whether it’s a structured blazer or a flowing dress, Lerksea is about embracing your multidimensional self and accepting the part of you that woke up that day.
5. What are your dreams for this brand, and how do you plan to make space for more women in fashion?
My dream is for Lerksea to become a global movement, not just a clothing brand. I hope Lerksea creates a safe space for the multidimensional/multitalented individual. I want to collaborate with creativity-led artisans, spotlight underrepresented voices, and create opportunities through storytelling and creative partnerships.
Fashion should be more inclusive, interesting and more diverse.
